April is coming up and there’s a lot going on in the worlds of Films, Fiction and Comics. We’ve pulled together a few events from the next month which we think are worth checking out:

Comic Conventions

April is a busy month on the Comic Con scene. We’re particularly looking forward to:

• StokeConTrent – Stoke-on-Trent – Sun 19th April
• Wales Comic Con – Wrexham – Sun 26th April

Film Festivals

There’s a couple of film festivals happening in April for those who enjoy independent film:

• From Page to Screen – Bridport – From Wed 8th April
• Norwich Film Festival – Norwich – From Fri 10th April
• Can Do Film Festival – Newark – Sun 12th April
• London Book and Screen Week – London – From Mon 13th April
• London Independent Film Festival – London – From Thu 16th April

If you’re a film maker, the following are open for submissions with deadlines coming up in April or May:

• Sci-Fi London’s 48 Hour Film Making Challenge (registration open now) – Sat 11th April
• Raindance Film Festival (early submission date) – Mon 20th April
• Raindance Web Fest (early submission date) – Sun 26th April
• Isle of Wight Film Festival (submission deadline) – Sun 10th May

Fiction Events

April is time for the London Book Fair (Tue 14th April – Thu 16th April, the biggest event in the publishers’ calendar. Also happening in April:

• Sci-Fi London’s 48 Hour Flash Fiction Competiton (registration open now) – Sat 11th April
• Successful Self Publishing with Joanna Penn – Stratford-Upon-Avon – Wed 29th April
• More Guardian Masterclasses in April
• Novel Writers: Lucy Wood, author of “Weathering” – Bristol – Thu 23rd April
